Little Destructors

INSPECTIONS. ARE. IMPORTANT.

Recently, our owner Geno found Subterranean termites at an inspection. While this wasn't in the house, it definitely was too close to home.

Subterranean termites are definitely more destructive, but unfortunately until they show themselves, you're not sure you have them. Drywood and Subterranean termites are fairly common here in the state of Florida. Drywood termites leave traces of pellets in a coffee ground like substance called frass. Subterranean leave behind their shelter tubes, which is mainly mud that they create when they forage. Subterranean termites can travel in large amounts per colony, and could contain, "...100,000 to 1,000,000 termites that forage up 150ft...".

Moving to Florida may sound grand, but please consider any and all inspections before purchasing any home!
